OPEL MANTA 400 ex works (VATANEN / WEBER)

This ex-factory Opel Manta 400 is listed by its competition department as "RM22", the abbreviation RM standing for "Rüsselsheim Manta". In fact, Opel's motorsport department was located there and prepared 37 Manta 400s for competition itself (this one is the 22nd), the others being prepared by workshops such as Conrero etc.

In all, 245 Manta 400s were built.

According to Andrew Rutter, ( Opel Manta Owners Club ) this car was built in 1983 for Vatanen, then adapted to 'Safari' specification for African rally-raids such as the Safari Rally of Kenya .

This car is a true collector's car, more than a car that can take part in today's VHC events. (homologation roll bar, seats etc). Its original engine has been overhauled by Gerent and is now crated. It is currently offered with a 400 engine prepared by Gerent.

The on-board kit for this OPEL MANTA 400 USINE is very, very extensive, and includes everything needed to mechanically equip a second MANTA B (engine, gearbox, axle, rims, etc.), as well as factory service boxes and period TRX rims with new tyres. It can therefore be fitted in either its original version (with its original engine, aluminium roll bar, etc.) or to take part in today's VHC rallies, with, among other things, the second engine currently fitted in the car.

Period documents in English are available, including those relating to its return to Europe from Tanzania.
